Permissions
PRESSonance needs one macOS permission: Input Monitoring. It listens for key-down and key-up events so sounds can follow your typing, while the content stays on your Mac.
Grant Input Monitoring
- Open System Settings and choose Privacy & Security.
- Open Input Monitoring and enable PRESSonance.
- Quit PRESSonance completely, reopen it, and type in Notes to confirm sound.
No sound after granting access
Quit every running PRESSonance build, reopen the copy in Applications, and check that its menu toggle and volume are on. macOS ties permission to the exact app bundle.
Secure fields
When macOS Secure Input is active, PRESSonance clears WordEcho and does not speak protected text. Mechanical feedback may also pause in protected contexts.
Revoke access
Turn PRESSonance off in Input Monitoring at any time. You can also pause it from the menu bar without changing the system permission.
Why Screen Recording is absent
PRESSonance does not need Screen Recording, Accessibility control, microphone access, contacts, files, or location.
