Local by default

Privacy Policy

Effective September 9, 2026

PRESSonance does not collect, store, sell, or transmit what you type. Its keyboard sounds and optional WordEcho processing happen locally on your Mac.

Keyboard access

With your explicit permission, PRESSonance uses macOS Input Monitoring to observe key-down and key-up events so it can play responsive mechanical keyboard sounds. This processing occurs on-device.

You can pause PRESSonance at any time and revoke Input Monitoring access in macOS System Settings.

WordEcho

WordEcho is optional. When enabled, PRESSonance temporarily holds the current word or sentence in memory so macOS can speak it locally. The buffer is cleared after speech, edits, application changes, or when PRESSonance is paused.

PRESSonance does not keep a history of spoken or typed content. It does not use typed content for analytics, advertising, profiling, or model training.

Secure input

When macOS Secure Input is active, PRESSonance clears its WordEcho buffer and does not speak the protected text. Password fields and other secure contexts are therefore excluded when the operating system exposes them as secure.

Data stored on your Mac

PRESSonance stores only local preferences such as:

  • selected sound, Feel, volume, and WordEcho settings;
  • whether you completed the privacy notice;
  • whether launch at login is enabled.

Typed words and sentences are not saved to disk.

Network, tracking, and third parties

The PRESSonance app does not require an account and does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or analytics that receive typed content. Keyboard processing, sound playback, and speech generation do not require a PRESSonance server.

This website

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use this website, including clicks, scrolling, heatmaps, and anonymised session recordings.

Text typed into the sound demo or the support form is masked and never recorded. Microsoft processes this website data under its own privacy statement.

Clarity uses cookies. Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are asked first, and anyone can decline. The PRESSonance app itself sends nothing to Clarity.

Purchases

Purchase and trial eligibility are handled by Apple's App Store. PRESSonance has no server account system and does not receive or store payment details.

Entitlement is verified on-device from the App Store transaction so the app can determine whether trial or lifetime access is active.

Changes to this policy

If PRESSonance changes how it handles personal data, this page will be updated before the new behavior is released. The effective date above identifies the current version.
